I am only 25 so i am not too sure what i‘m doing here…
Leena, - if you’re ever down in the South-west and fancy a social time then you have a kindred spirit here! It seems there’s a whole community here of potential friendship opportunities!
When I was growing up in the 90s leopard print was a symbol of outgoing women. I think I’ll fallow your lead and try it out!
Carbon capture…. Need it, don’t have it.
Love your videos Leena, thanks for this!
Not all of the sequels to the Wizard of Oz are bullshit. A few of them - only a very few - are really good and worth reading. For instance: Ozma of Oz, Glinda of Oz (both by Baum), Ruth Plumly Thompson’s Speedy in Oz and The Wishing Horse of Oz, and Elenor Jarvis McGraw’s Merry-Go-Round in Oz.
You'd have to be naive and rather egocentric to voluntarily want to add more innocent human beings into this massively overpopulated and polluted world with irreversible climate change previsions. The earth's biosphere thanks those who have made the eco-responsible choice of not procreating Livin' n' lovin' the childfree life!
THIS DRESS IS ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!!!! That is all.
Thank you, I needed this today. 28 but life is catching up with me and I need it to slow down
I was vegetarian for 10 years (of which about 3 were raw vegan, mostly for pretty bad reasons I'd say) then I added fish to my diet and it's been about 7 years since then. I don't feel like I want to become vegan for pretty stubborn reasons of liking cooking too much combined with the fact that after studying several sources on Utra Processed Foods I sudeenly realised that all vegan alternative foods are potentially really really not healthy (I would have previously thought of them as a healthy choice). Kind of sticking with seeking out all other products and goods that are made in environmently and human friendly ways and leaving the dairy and egg products aside..
I really enjoyed your video and the fun walk through of the midlands! What a gorgeous day xxxx
I actually really liked the circus addition to the musical version. It's was a different and interesting way to explain the relationship between Miss Honey and Miss Trunchbull while also adding some backstory to Magnus and his wife. Plus, the idea that they were an internationally famous circus act helps expand on the world making it seem even more over the top. One disappointment I had was the 2022 version not explaining that Miss Trunchbull was incredibly superstitious which the book and 1996 film show which makes Matilda's trick with the chalkboard being enough to scare The Trunchbull make more sense.
The press weren't threatening their lives.... Who told you that he was the only one who had the same threat level? errrrm... Harry wanted to live independently making his own money. He got what he wanted. The king wasn't going to keep funding him.... workers don't have rights once they've left!
The regional public tv channel presenter vibes are so real in this one 🙏🏻❤️
This were great. Im 35 and have finally learnt the joys of the quiet life. I enjoy my routine. Cuddle time with the cat. Clearing debt from my twenties, fasting, and being alcohol free were such good choices for me. Its nice being a lot more secure in who you are as well which definitely takes quite a while. Fab video!
this video made me so happy! i'll be 32 this summer and so far in my 30s i have: followed artists on tour all over europe and put myself in debt for it (i struggle to not say it was worth it lmao), moved from the suburbs to a collective in the inner city and from the inner city to my biggest apartment yet on an ISLAND without bridge access and like 3k people (and a 3h commute to get to and from work), experienced my first healthy adult relationship (we broke up but on good terms) and realised that i can do anything i want and im actually quite happy in my little life. excited to be alive🥰
How are you doing? Are you happy with where you are living now, outside of London?
I wish I knew about interchangeable needles waaay sooner!
2 mins in and as a skincare addict, I kinda don’t want to know 😅.
I was just thinking about how much value your videos add to my life, and how they consistently inspire, comfort and challenge me... and I thought the least I could do is send a little token of thanks. Thank you for all your hard work, and for being a darn good human Leena.
Thanks for all that ♥️ it was very good to hear
I remember quite clearly when my cousin, who is 5 years younger than me, just got engaged and at Christmas asked me when I am finally ready to marry and get kids. Because god forbid you do it the other way round… anyway back then I was about 25 years old and said quite loudly so the whole room could hear it “Oh, I didn’t know you were this interested in my sex life. Should I text you the next time when stuff is going down just to let you know?” I was never asked since. ^^
this feels like a school tv episode for adults and i love it
i found this BEAUTIFUL bangle, in the thrift, and its with leopard print, its so cool and AMAZINGGG
As someone who has naturally balanced skin (not overly oily or dry) I find that whenever I apply a bit of skincare, it breaks me out. My facial 'skincare routine' consists of rinsing with water, and using Simple biodegradable make-up wipes when I've worn a bit of make-up that day 😂
The reason overpopulation didn't have rhe negative effexts is because we found out how to nitrogen fix the soil. On the eve of the 1800s we were finding it harder and harder to feed the peoppe that existed. Which was around 1 billion. Without that we wpuld be having a crisis much earlier than now
Why do no one talk about adoption? There are perfectly working kids in shelters all around the world looking for a home. The reason we don't is because having an offspring of your blood is an inherently selfish act. Because when you can go and get a kid to raise well what is the fundamental difference between that and having your own baby.
If every child was a wanted and PLANNED child, no one would even have to think about this question. In North America it's estimated that more than half of pregnancies are unplanned. The statistics around unplanned children and intergenerational poverty is.... heartbreaking. People who desperately want children should definitely have kids. If you are luke warm about kids, don't have them until you are sure. If you don't want kids, don't have them. I think it's a better use of time and energy pushing for better birth control options, and access to it for everyone. You don't need to stop people who want children from having them, you only need to remove any barriers preventing everyone else from choosing when and if they want to take on that responsibility.
i've turned 30 recently and do struggle with the cost of living in london but find it's a wonderful place to be single. any advice on how to uproot and find somewhere else to live when you're solo and can no longer afford to live where you grew up?
the way i jumped when you said "fourth decade"
🎉
I'm a French 32y and last october I moved in Australia for a year of travelling. It's not exactly what I imagine but I'm happy I did it any way 😊
Omggg thank you for mentioning the trail name, I’ve been wanting to do more walking and I’m from the midlands! This one looks lush
hope you know it's really chill watching a woman who loves clothes in a more authentic way... aesthetic is fine but i like that some have brain *and* aesthetic
Why do some men start with "as a father..". because if they don't their opinion is completely disregarded, especially when its about women/daughters like they are inherintly unable to feel empathy. This is where our society is at and for me not needless to say that any sorts of those disbelieves targeted at men are mostly stated from women. Just think about a men alone at a park with their young daughter and she is screaming. Fun fact the thing about the biological clock for women have solely been been said to me from women. Women being labelled as wh0res comes primary from women as well. False fact, many women who leave the workplace don't come back at the same level and very often decide to leave completely, especially if they can (afford to), but of course it is possible. Definitely agree with all those people who figured you should be a parent and would probably make a good one lmao, but you don't owe anyone. Its only one perspective and you know yourself best and sound like you can make good decisions for your life. People just know there are many people out there who proof that they shouldn't put in the world, but do.
Great as always ❤️ I can really relate to these topics, where I feel like most of my friends can’t (city friends who want to build a family in the suburbs), so it’s really nice to feel like it’s ‘normal’ to think about these themes.
Looks amazing ❤
Coming back here to this episode just to say I watched this mid 2023; this episode was the catalyst to me doing my own research and soul searching. In Jan 2024 I went plant based. Still going strong, 💪😊 thanks Lena for putting words in my head that I couldn't un-hear! 🙏 ❤
I love this so much! Especially the part about not monetizing your dreams and still being able to do them! That also takes so much pressure out of it and puts emphasis on simply enjoying those dreams :)
Leena, do you have a ‘press pack’ of information about the book? I’ll put it in my Substack ‘editorial schedule’ (that sounds fancier than it is!) for Nov/Dec
Omg, this is definitely my favorite video of your closet! Loved all of the clothes, so beautiful and deep at the same time. Luches!
As a corollary to safety over sublime, be open to doing the smart thing even when it was never something you aspired to. As someone who never wanted to be a homeowner I still bought one in 2018 when circumstances conspired (my corporate landlord jumped the gun on idiotic levels of rent increases) to make it smarter to buy. In hindsight my willingness to do something I never really wanted to put me in a better position for COVID, WFH and the recent housing market insanity. Just remember it's not always about what we want to do, but sometimes what is most strategically advantageous. Note, this does NOT apply to having children or relationships in which cases enthusiastic desire is highly encouraged.
i love thus format of video - felt like i was watching a great travel show in the best way!!
Tretinoin cleared up several years worth of acne marks I had on my face in about 6 months. I don't even get severe acne, I'm just darker-skinned, so every time I get a pimple, it leaves a hyperpigmentation spot on my face. I agree that overconsumption is rampant in the skincare industry, and I'm not super interested in the "anti-aging" marketing, but I find it a bit disingenuous to discount everything except cleanser/moisturizer/SPF. I'm okay with wrinkles etc. but I'd prefer not to collect evidence of every pimple I've ever had on my face lol.
Maybe this is childish, but I usually consider the stance "no ethical consumption under capitalism" when I have no other option for obtaining something I want, e.g. I boycott Amazon 99% of the time when I want to buy something, but most websites use Amazon Web Services in one way or another, so when I go to use a website unrelated to Amazon that uses AWS (like Reddit, game dev websites, or pharmaceutical companies (I work in pharma/biotech so I need to look at pharma websites for jobs)), I consider that phrase. Another example would be the Sony Xperia 5V. I'd really like that phone for the feature set it has, but in America, the only way to obtain to it is either Amazon or eBay sellers (who would have bought it from Amazon). So in the future (unless the 5 VI launches at other retailers in America), I will probably upgrade my phone by buying off Amazon. Same goes for stores like Walmart, Target, or big grocery stores. I needed moving boxes, there was no other place that would sell nearby, so I spent the money at Walmart, even though I generally avoid it. I shop primarily at farmers' markets, but what do I do when my ingredients I need to cook are unavailable (e.g. not many farmers make olive oil in my region)? I go to the big chain grocery store.
Done - and done ! Its similar with music releases and pre saves! ❤
Yes please more walk and talk videos :)
I'm in my early 40's and honestly I found turning 30 WAY harder than turning 40. I feel like the expectations/goals you have for your future in your early 20's really are hard to shed. If you have unmet expectations heading into your 30's, they tend to feel like failures. Heading into your 40's I feel like you may have the experience to understand that unmet expectations aren't necessarily failures, and your priorities are allowed to change. Ended up I made some pretty good progress in my 30s after I left some of my previously held beliefs behind.
TWO train car cafes?! those are so cute
The 'safety over the sublime' section reminds of the Julie Andrew's quote 'When in doubt, stand still'.
